What you gain

Practical exposure to government relations and commercial diplomacy.

This is suited to people who want hands-on experience, not a passive placement. Both opportunities include research and liaison. Interns may work on policy monitoring, market research, stakeholder mapping, outreach, stakeholder engagement, event support, client documentation, social content, fundraising research or project coordination. The work is remote, but not vague. You need to communicate clearly, manage your own tasks and produce work that can actually be used. Internships are unpaid and must usually be connected to a recognised course, degree, training track or similar approved pathway. Paid work may sometimes follow, but only where the intern has demonstrated clear value and there is a real business need.
How to apply

Keep it simple. Send evidence that you can think and write.

Applications should be direct and specific. A generic cover letter is a poor opening move. Say which role you want, whether the unpaid internship can form part of your recognised course or training pathway, why it fits, and what you can actually do.
1

Choose the role

Choose the Policy Researcher opportunity that best fits your interests and skills: Sales and Business Development, or Digital Marketing and Social Media.
2

Prepare concise material

Send a CV and a short covering letter. State clearly whether the unpaid internship forms part of a recognised course, university programme or approved training pathway.
3

Email the right contact

Send your application directly to Alistair Starling, stating which Policy Researcher opportunity you are applying for.
