Migration today is at the heart of a cultural clash. It is therefore time to break up the hardened narratives again, through listening and understanding. Interviews with academics from different countries, backgrounds and perspectives on immigration are a first step in this direction. The questions are repeated, but the answers vary. We strive for a balanced future.
European perspectives – in a complex world
Future of Migration Project: First Stage
Listening and recognizing: This is how we should begin to engage in constructive debates about immigration, beyond designed narratives or absolute truths.
In this first stage, we will speak with experts from every corner of Europe— from Estonia to Portugal, from Ireland to Greece—through in-depth, semi-structured interviews. We aim to understand how immigration is perceived in each country, what fault lines exist, and how they are explained. These voices will not be pushed into a corner, but will share their perspectives freely.
A meaningful insight emerges when we compare these views, allowing us to challenge our assumptions and identify key tipping points – a solid foundation for follow-ups with new formats of dialogue, exchange and political education. We believe Europe must recognize and overcome cultural clashes and narrow perspectives, we need bridges, urgently.
Please, contact us if you feel the same way. Perhaps we can collaborate in the future.
